Meet the Sisters
Two passionate sisters, whose combined expertise and experience shape the heart and soul of Ambience Yoga and Retreats.
From a young age, Rachel has been driven by a passion to help others realize their full potential. Starting her journey as an early years primary teacher, she firmly believed in nurturing the holistic growth of a child, laying the foundation for a healthy mind and body. With a Bachelor of Education Degree, a Post Graduate Certificate in Early Years, and 15 years of teaching experience, Rachel’s dedication to education is evident.
However, it was 15 years ago that Rachel discovered the transformative power of yoga and meditation. These practices became her sanctuary during challenging times, especially during the loss of her mother. Over the years, Rachel deepened her understanding of herself by attending numerous retreats, workshops, and self-inquiry courses. Although initially drawn to Yin yoga for personal growth, she felt a calling to share its benefits with others, leading her to complete courses and become a Yoga Alliance qualified instructor.
Music, another of Rachel’s passions, plays a significant role in her teachings. Growing up in a musical family, she believes in the emerging benefits of sound healing in the Western world and incorporates it into her classes. With qualifications in Yin Yoga, Dan Yan Wild Goose Qigong, and Level 2 Sound Healing, Rachel offers a unique blend of traditional practices and modern insights.
Lisa, an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, has dedicated over a decade to supporting young people and families on their unique paths to wellness. Her fascination with the human experience began in her teenage years, witnessing the profound healing journey of her mother. This ignited Lisa’s curiosity, leading her to explore diverse therapeutic modalities. She found her true passion in neuroscience, trauma-informed practices, and somatic healing methods.
Guided by an ecological perspective, Lisa believes in the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and environment. She champions the idea that genuine healing emerges when we embrace our complete selves within our surroundings. As a group facilitator, she excels in creating safe spaces, allowing individuals to connect deeply with themselves and others.
Lisa’s recent foray into sound healing, culminating in a Level 2 certification, showcases her commitment to integrating traditional and modern healing techniques. Influenced by thought leaders like Dr. Gabor Mate , Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk and Eckhart Tolle, she’s driven to share her insights and create spaces that foster innate healing potential.
